ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER

Pay Range: $28.66 - $45.32, DOQ

The City of Xenia is seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Project Manager to support the engineering division through various engineering and construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a demonstrated track record of successful project delivery.

The City of Xenia Engineering Division is responsible for overseeing, and managing civil engineering infrastructure projects.  This includes the design, project management, and inspection of roadways, sidewalks, traffic signals, water and sanitary sewer infrastructure, culverts and storm sewers.   

Under the direction of the City Engineer, the Engineering Project Manager will provide project support by performing a wide range of engineering and construction related tasks including management of capital improvement projects, storm water management, public improvements completed with land development projects, and work within the public right-of-way with private utility companies. They will coordinate and supervise consulting firms involved in the inspection and contract administration of projects and assist with information requests, reporting, and data entry.

Qualifications:

An associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school and five (5) years progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of training, education, or experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with ABET Accredited Engineering Degree and registration as an Engineering Intern (EI) and at least two (2) years of federal, state, or local government employment is preferred.

Candidates must have computer skills with functional use of standard Microsoft applications and functional knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Arc-GIS, and Carahsoft Water Gems.

ENGINEERING SUMMER INTERN

$25/HOUR

The City of Xenia is accepting cover letters and resumes for an Engineering Internship position.  The position will assist the engineering and public service departments with project development and construction inspection.  

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Field data collection and verification.
  • Use of ESRI ArcGIS Software.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings.
  • Basic understanding of municipal civil engineering.
  • Ability to work safely and independently in the field.

Equipment Used:

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D, ESRI Software, Trimble GPS, & MS Office Suite

Requirements:

  • Open to students pursuing a degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field.
  • Applicant must be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering and construction principals.
  • Tasks may include collecting and developing future project quantities, daily construction activities reports, and construction inspection.
  • Must be able to perform assigned field work, walking and climbing on uneven terrain. Requires working indoors and outdoors in all-weather including heat and cold conditions.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record. 

Work Schedule:

The intern will work a flexible schedule (up to 40 hours/week) during the summer (up to 12 weeks).

FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC

The City of Xenia Fire Division is accepting non-certified and certified lateral transfer applications for Firefighter/Paramedic. Application packets may be submitted either in person at 107 E. Firefighter/Paramedic Application

The Fire Division operates on a California Swing schedule with firefighters working 24 hours, every other day, for five days followed by 96 hours off. 

Certified Lateral Transfer Applicants

  • Currently holds Ohio Firefighter Level II and Paramedic Certifications
  • Must have prior experience working as a Firefighter/Paramedic
  • Starting pay will be based on prior experience
  • Certified Firefighter/ Paramedic - $60,443.70 to $77,758.78, annually
  • $5,000 Sign-On Bonus – Lateral Only! 

Non-Certified Applicants

  • Do not hold both Ohio Firefighter Level II and Paramedic Certifications
  • City pays for education and training to obtain required certifications
  • Must be 18 years old
  • EMT-P Certification only starts at $58,443.70 annually
  • Fire Certification only starts at $56,443.70 annually
  • Certifications (Fire or Paramedic) starts at $54,443.70 annually

  • No certification starts at $28.02, hourly
